What does mobility mean for you? This is strictly a personal story from Debbie Gibb. I have MS while going through a very bad spell I went to the Shopmobility Lochaber. I had seen the office but thought that you had to buy the scooters. I discussed my options with my husband and we decided I should buy one. Everyday had become such a struggle that even minor errands had become a real chore. It was very hard for me to admit that I needed help. It seemed like I was going back instead of forward.

Arriving at the office I was very confused and I am sure that the staff thought they had a real winner in me that day. I was so thrilled to learn that I could just take one! I made a donation, did the paperwork and was given my training right there and then. I was riding around town. The only words I can think of are sheer joy and absolute bliss. For the first time in 23 years I was free of the confines of my body. The feeling of the sun and wind on my face as I travelled around town was wonderful. I could do whatever errand needed doing, the day I needed to them and not have to wait until I was having a good day. I hadn't taken a step backward I had given myself true independence

With the accessories that are offered I can go no matter what the weather. Some days if it is warm and sunny I just go for a ride! I love it, I have explored places that I did not have the strength to walk to. It has so enhanced my life. Not only do I have the ability to go but I have made some friends and have fun. Everyone at Shopmobility Lochaber has been so friendly and helpful. Thanks everyone for giving me a life. Debbie Gibb
